1.Red cent   = یک قرون -  ده شاهی

I can’t lend you any money. I don’t have a red cent!  

یک قرون پول ندارم! من نمیتوانم بهت پول قرض بدم

2.Blacklist  someone =blackball someone= boycott  کسی را تحریم کردن 

He can’t find work because he  was blackballed/blacklisted.

3.Give someone a black eye =زیر چشم کسی بادمجون کاشتن

I made a comment about his girlfriend and he gave me a black eye!

من فقط یه نظر درباره ی دوست دخترش دادم و اون یه بادمجون زیر چشم کاشت!

4.Yellow =cowardly / 'kaU@dÛ£@rd/  ترسو-بزدل

You ‘re not going to confront her ? What are you, yellow ?

نمی خوای باهاش روبرو بشی؟تو دیگه کی هستی؟یه بزدل ترسو!

5.Double whammy (n)=قوز بالا قوز

Whammy=  صدای برخورد

6.Beat around the bush  به حاشیه پرداختن - طفره رفتن=

Just tell me what do you want. stop beating around the bush!

به من بگو چی می خوای .طفره نرو!

7.In the raw = لخت مادر زاد - کاملا لخت

I think he didn’t know I was home in the house. When I walked into the living room ,he was just standing there in the raw!

8.Go in one ear and out the other =  از یک گوش شنیدن و از گوش دیگر در کردن

I’  ve told you three times to take off your shoes before you walk on the carpet. I feel like everything I say to you goes in one ear and out the other.

سه دفعه تا حالا بهت گفتم وقتی مییای تو کفشاتو دربیار.فکر میکنم هر چی میگم  با یه گوشت میشنوی واز گوش دیگت بیرون میکنی!

9.Nothing but skin and bones =adj=  پوست و استخوان - لاغر مردن

You ‘re nothing but skin and bones! Eat something!

پوست استخون شدی / داری میمیری ! یه چیزی بخور!

10.Bite your tongue =  زبونتو گاز بگیر

If the boss says something you don’t like during the meeting , bite your tongue or you may get fired!

در طول جلسه اگه رئیس چیزی گفت که خوشت نیومد یا به روی خودت نیار/ زبونتو گاز بگیر در غیر این صورت اخراج میشی.

Meaning: go away, run away

در رفتن ، فرار کردن

For example:

• Some kids were smoking in the carpark, but when one of them saw a teacher coming they grabbed ¹ their stuff ² and beat it.

Meaning: An Achilles' heel is a weakness that could result in failure.

For example:

• He's a good golfer, but his Achilles' heel is his putting and it's often made him lose matches.
