مکالمه ای کاملا غیر رسمی در مدرسه :

Anne : You seem really ticked off. What ‘s up?

(Anne : You seem really angry. What ‘s the matter?)

به نظر خیلی عصبانی می آی موضوع چیه؟

Peggy : Just get out of my face, would you ?!

( Peggy : Just leave me alone, alright?!)

فقط از این جا برو( از جلوی چشم دور شو ) ، خوب؟!

Anne : chill out ! What ‘s eating you?

( Anne : Relax! What ‘s the matter with you?)

آروم باش. موضوع چیه؟

Peggy : Sorry. It ‘s just that I think I blew the final .

( Peggy : Sorry. It ‘s just that I think I failed the final examination. (

متاسفم ،آخه امتحان پایان ترمموافتادم.

Anne : Well , now you ‘re really going to freak out when I tell you who aced it… what’s -her- face… the one who always kissed up to the teacher.

(Anne : Well , now you ‘re really going to be mad when I tell you who got 100% on it… I forgot her name… the one who always flatters the teacher.)

اگه بهت بگم کی نمره ی کامل گرفته کفری میشی.اسمش یادم نمییاد. همونی که همیشه پاچه خوارییه استاد ومیکنه.

Peggy : Jennifer Davies? Give me a break! I can’t stand her. she is such a dweeb! How could she possibly ace it when she keeps cutting class all the time?

(Peggy : Jennifer Davies? You ‘re kidding! I don’t like her! she is such a moron! How could she possibly get 100% on it when she ‘s absent from class all the time?)

جنیفر دیویس؟ شوخی میکنی! نمیتونم تحملش کنم. اون یه احمقه واقعییه. چطور ممکنه نمره ی کامل گرفته باشه وقتی همش غیبت میکنه؟!

Anne : She ‘s the teacher ‘s pet, that ‘s why. Beside , She just really rubs me the wrong way. And you know what? I think she’ s got the hots for him ,too.

(Anne : She ‘s the teacher ‘ s favorite student, that ‘s why . Besides,There ‘s something about her I don’t like. And you know ? I think she really likes him , too.)

علتش اینکه اون سوگلی استاده بعلاوه، یه چیزدرباره ی اون هست که منو واقعا آزار میده . میدونی چیه؟ من فکر میکنم جنیفرهم واقعا استاد و دوست داره.

Peggy: Get out of here!

(Peggy: You ‘ve got to be joking !)

گمشو بابا!

Anne: I ‘m dead serious. Yesterday , before class starts , she walks up to Mr . Edward ‘s desk and goes, “Good morning, Jim”.

(Anne: I ‘m very serious. Yesterday , before class starts , she walks up to Mr . Edward ‘s desk and says , “Good morning, Jim”).

جدی میگم. دیروز قبل از این که کلاس شروع بشه جنیفر رفت طرف میز آقای ادوارد و گفت سلام جیم.

Peggy: oh, gag me! She ‘s totally gross.

) Peggy: oh that makes me sick! She ‘s totally disgusting!)

اه ،حالمو بهم زد! چقدر نفرت انگیزه !

Expressions about shopping

Do you have these shoes in size seven?

Karen walks into a shoe store. She wants to buy a pair of new shoes for

herself....

Clerk : May I help you?

Karen: Yes. Do you have these shoes in size seven?

Clerk : I'm not sure. If you can't find them on the rack ¹, they may be out of

stock ². But let me look in the stockroom.

Karen: Thanks. I'd like to try on a pair if you have them.

Clerk : I'll be right back.

Dennis bought a used TV for 200 dollars. He didn't realize he had been ripped off ⁴ ....

Erwin: How much did you pay for it?

Dennis: 200 bucks ⁵.

Erwin: 200 bucks for a piece of junk ⁶ like that? That's a rip-off !

Dennis: What do you mean?

Erwin: It's not worth it.

Dennis: Oh. I guess I really did get ripped off.

1.rack = shelf , قفسه

2. stock = انبار

3. rip-off (n) = cheat , کلاهبرداری- تقلب

4.rip off (v) = سر کسی کلاه گذاشتن- تقلب کردن

5. buck = dollar ( slang )

6 . junk = بنجل

مکالمه

I'd like to reserve a table for dinner.

Ron makes a phone call to the restaurant to reserve a table for him and his friends for dinner....

درمکالمه ی زیرRon به رستوان زنگ میزند تا برای شام یک میز رزرو کند.

Hostess ¹: Pompas ². How may I help you?

Ron : Yes. I'd like to reserve a table for dinner.

Hostess : How large a group are you expecting?

Ron : Six couples.

Hostess : Would you like to reserve a private dinning room?

Ron : That sounds like a good idea.

Hostess : All right. May I have your name, sir?

Ron : My name is Ron Kollitz. K-O-L-L-I-T-Z.

Hostess : What time will you be arriving?

Ron : Around 7:30 PM.

Hostess : All right, Mr. Kollitz. We have reserved a private dinning room for you

at 7:30 PM. Thanks for calling Pompas.

Ron : Thank you very much.

Dialogue about Shopping

در دو مکالمه ی زیر می توانید جملات رایج در هنگام خرید را ملاحظه کنید

Here we have two conversations. The first is between Mrs Smith and her younger son John at the shops. The second is between Mrs Smith and a shop assistant.

It's Saturday morning and Mrs. Smith is going shopping.
Mrs S:	John, I'm going to the shops. Is there anything you want?
John:	Yes please! Can you pick up my magazine from the newsagents?
Mrs S:	Of course. Do you want to come with me?
John:	No way, I'm going round to Mike's house, sorry.
Mrs S:	No problem. I'll be about an hour, be home by 5 o'clock at the latest.
John:	O.K. I'll see you later.
A bit later......
Mrs S:	John are you home?
John	Yes mum, I'm up stairs.
Mrs S:	Come down here, I bought you a new Nike T-shirt, I want you to try it on.
John	Nike? Great I'm coming!
A few minutes later.....
Mrs S:	Well, does it fit?
John	I think it's a bit too small.
Mrs S:	Let's have a look. Hmmm, I think you've grown again!
John	I can't wear it though.
Mrs S:	Do you like it?
John	Yeah, it's a nice colour.
Mrs S:	I'll take it back to the supermarket and see if I can change it.

Mrs Smith had bought a nice new T-shirt for John, but when he tried it on it didn't fit.

It's Saturday evening and Mrs Smith has to return the T-shirt.
Mrs S:	Excuse me, can you help me?
Shop Assistant	Yes of course, what can I do for you?
Mrs S:	I bought this T-shirt for my son this afternoon, but it doesn't fit him, it's too small.
Shop Assistant	Do you want to change it or get a refund.
Mrs S:	I'd like to change it for a larger size. Do you have these in large?
Shop Assistant	I'll just check. Let's see, yes we have large or extra large, which would you prefer?
Mrs S:	I think large will be fine, it's for my son.
Shop Assistant	That's fine, if it doesn't fit just bring it back again. If you take it to the customer service desk, they'll sort it all out for you.
Mrs S:	Thank you. Just as a matter of interest do you give refunds?
Shop Assistant	Yes, of course. You can bring any clothing items back up to three weeks after purchase, but you must keep the reciept.
Mrs S:	I see, thanks again.
Shop Assistant:	You're welcome.
